Dollar's investigation leads him to the Empress Theater, where he learns from the stage doorman that Forbes had been a frequent visitor, repeatedly asking to see performer Betsy Walker. The trail takes Dollar to Walker's apartment near one in the morning, where the actress reveals a troubling connection to Forbes. She claims to have only met him once in her life and describes him as "quite impossible," though she struggles to explain their relationship.
