What appears to be a simple homicide quickly twists into a tale of hidden motives, mounting debts, and long-buried secrets. As Dollar probes into Hickey’s mysterious final letter and the people he left behind—a bitter widow, a nervous secretary, and a volatile local—he uncovers a web of fraudulent loans and old grudges. But the case turns deadly once more when bullets fly, leaving a fellow investigator wounded and Dollar chasing a murderer through the snow. In a stunning finale, a disgraced ex-cop and a woman with a criminal past are exposed, revealing that Hickey’s killer was closer than anyone suspected.
