The Mickey McQueen Matter: A Cop’s Final Beat, A City’s Deepest Secrets

Originally Aired: April 14, 1951 When beloved Hartford beat cop Mickey McQueen calls Johnny Dollar late at night, his words are heavy with dread: “There’ll be murder before it’s finished.” By morning, Mickey is dead—apparently by suicide, but Dollar suspects foul play. As he investigates, Dollar uncovers the hidden heartbreak of a good man forced off the street after twenty years of service, and the complicated home life Mickey kept from his friends. The trail leads Dollar into a tangled web of ex-cons, Chicago gunmen, and a brewing heist targeting the city’s wholesale jewelers. As secrets unravel, Dollar learns the truth about Mickey’s mysterious wife Thelma, her criminal past, and a desperate plot that threatens to blow Hartford sky high. In a pulse-pounding climax, vengeance and sacrifice collide on the city’s midnight streets. “The Mickey McQueen Matter” is a moving tribute to a loyal policeman, a gritty tale of loyalty, blackmail, and the cost of conscience—classic storytelling from Yours Truly, Johnny Dollar.
