The Nick Shurn Matter Ep 3

Originally Aired: December 21, 1955 Johnny Dollar #288, "The Nick Shurn Matter Ep 3," Johnny Dollar and Mike O'Dare man a freezing roadblock on a Michigan logging road, waiting to intercept hired killer Benny Stark, who has tracked Kathy O'Dare to her hometown of Bramberry. As they pass the long, cold hours with cigarettes and applejack, Mike opens up about his daughter, asking Johnny honestly whether Kathy is mixed up in the New York murder case. Johnny admits he's not sure, and both men acknowledge the uneasy alliance between them: Mike and Sheriff Dan Martin will protect Kathy at all costs, even if Johnny's investigation leads him to conclude she might be guilty. Through the night, cars pass their checkpoint, each one a moment of tension. Word arrives that Benny Stark has been spotted breaking through another roadblock rather than fleeing the area, confirming Johnny's suspicion that the professional killer won't give up his assignment. As Christmas carols drift from the town hall and colored lights blink in the village square, the contrast between holiday peace and deadly pursuit grows more stark. Become a supporter of this podcast
