  1. Black Market Meat

    Nov 5, 2026 · 56 min

Originally Aired: April 27, 1943 Fibber McGee & Molly #362, "Black Market Meat," Fibber finds himself in a morally questionable position when he runs out of meat ration coupons but desperately craves a thick porterhouse steak. Behind the pool hall in an alley, he meets a shady character named Eddie who sells him three pounds of steak for five dollars, no coupons required and no questions asked. Fibber proudly brings his prize home and boasts to Molly about his hunting success, though he keeps the package wrapped and hidden in the refrigerator as a dinner surprise. When the socially prominent Abigail Uppington arrives in distress because she cannot find meat for a dinner party honoring naval officers, Fibber eagerly offers to help by directing her to Eddie and his back alley operation. Abigail is appalled at the suggestion, delivering a stinging rebuke about the immorality of buying black market meat while servicemen fight to protect legitimate American businesses. Her righteous indignation leaves Fibber squirming as he realizes the implications of his own recent purchase, though he tries to justify his actions to a skeptical Molly.

  2. A Dress For Molly

    Nov 4, 2026 · 29 min

Originally Aired: April 20, 1943 In Fibber McGee & Molly #361, "A Dress For Molly," Fibber finds himself in a predicament of his own making when his big mouth gets him volunteered for an impossible task. With the McGees committed to buying war bonds instead of Easter clothes, Molly decides to sew her own dress from a pattern. When she struggles to figure out the instructions, Fibber foolishly boasts that it's easy—just lay out the pattern and cut around it. Before he can backtrack, Molly cheerfully accepts his help, leaving him stuck with a dressmaking job he's completely unqualified for. As Fibber wrestles with mysterious terms like "bias" and "bodice," he receives dubious assistance from various visitors. The Kingsmen drop by with an absurd story about a man strangled by his own rawhide necktie, while little Teeny offers confusing advice about plackets and kick pleats before launching into one of her trademark riddles. With the wind blowing his pattern pieces around and his frustration mounting, Fibber desperately wishes he could just zip his big noisy mouth shut—though he's already figured out where that zipper should go.

  3. Indian Fighter Uncle Sycamore On Radio

    Nov 3, 2026 · 21 min

Originally Aired: April 13, 1943 In Fibber McGee & Molly #360, "Indian Fighter Uncle Sycamore On Radio," Fibber is nearly beside himself with excitement as he prepares to hear a special radio program honoring his legendary Uncle Sycamore, the famous Wild West Indian fighter who knew Kit Carson and Buffalo Bill. With only minutes before the broadcast begins, Fibber frantically tries to get the radio working after tinkering with it all day, having installed a tube from the sun lamp. As Molly tries to calm her agitated husband, the temperamental radio keeps cutting out at the worst possible moments, causing Fibber to desperately attempt repairs with hairpins, screwdrivers, and anything else he can find. The situation grows more chaotic when visitors arrive, including the elegant Abigail Uppington, who can't stand shooting sounds, and the Old Timer. Between interruptions, slammed doors that jar the radio's delicate wiring, and Fibber's questionable repair skills, the McGees miss crucial portions of Uncle Sycamore's moment of glory. As the program plays on without them, Fibber grows increasingly frantic, struggling to keep his homemade radio fix working long enough to hear about his heroic relative's Western adventures.

  4. Fibber Is Ill

    Nov 2, 2026 · 39 min

Originally Aired: April 6, 1943 Fibber McGee & Molly #359, "Fibber Is Ill," Fibber is convinced he's coming down with something serious and demands medical attention, much to Molly's exasperation. Listing his symptoms alphabetically from "all wore out" to needing a physician, Fibber insists he has no energy and can barely keep his eyes open. Despite Molly's suggestions that he simply take a walk or mow the lawn, Fibber refuses to do any work and begs her to call Doc Gamble. When Molly finally agrees to invite the doctor over for fried chicken dinner, Fibber sees it as his chance to get free medical advice. Meanwhile, visitors Abigail Uppington and the Old Timer stop by with their own diagnoses and remedies. Abigail suggests Fibber take twenty aspirin tablets and throw them over the roof for exercise, while the Old Timer arrives with his grandmother's dubious recipe for spring fever. As Fibber's complaints grow more dramatic, threatening that specialists will soon be conferring in whispers outside his door, the question remains whether this is genuine illness or just Fibber's typical hypochondria.

  5. The Washing Machine

    Nov 1, 2026 · 29 min

Originally Aired: March 30, 1943 Fibber McGee & Molly #358, "The Washing Machine," Fibber manages to completely destroy the McGee household washing machine, reducing it to a pile of twisted parts after ignoring Molly's warnings about the gearbox. Just when all seems lost, Molly hands him a newspaper containing a classified ad for an electric washing machine being sold by a Mrs. J. Benchley in Wistful Vista, with ringing and ironing attachments, which must be sold by April 1st - just two days away. Fibber interprets this remarkable coincidence as Providence watching over him. The McGees spring into action to track down this precious washing machine before someone else snaps it up. After a characteristically rambling phone conversation with Mert the operator, they discover that the seller frequently calls Jimmy Sayles grocery, so they head there for more information. Before they can leave, however, little Teeny drops by with a convoluted riddle that tests Fibber's patience as he rushes to claim the washing machine before it's too late.

  6. Collecting For The Red Cross

    Oct 31, 2026 · 26 min

Originally Aired: March 23, 1943 Fibber McGee & Molly #357, "Collecting For The Red Cross," Fibber McGee appoints himself the official Red Cross fund collector for his neighborhood, though his "territory" hilariously shrinks from the entire nation down to just one end of his street when Molly questions him. Undaunted, McGee sets an ambitious quota of fifty dollars, which Molly convinces him to double to one hundred. He vows to write a personal check for any shortfall, though Molly notes his checkered history with the bank, where they've worn out the rubber stamp that says "We regret to inform you." When the cultured Abigail Uppington stops by, Fibber immediately tries to get a donation from her, but she's already sent in a generous check. Not to be deterred, the ever-scheming McGee suggests they play a game of craps for the Red Cross, with all winnings going to the fund. Despite Abigail's genteel ignorance of dice games, she eagerly agrees to play for twenty dollars. As McGee condescendingly explains the rules, Abigail begins rolling, and the episode takes an unexpected turn as she starts winning.

  7. Fibber’s Horoscope

    Oct 30, 2026 · 29 min

Originally Aired: March 16, 1943 Fibber McGee & Molly #356, "Fibber's Horoscope," Fibber anxiously awaits the mail, much to Molly's exasperation, expecting something that will "change the whole course of our lives." He dreams of being able to predict the future—imagining himself making a fortune on the stock market by knowing in advance which stocks will rise. When the female mail carrier finally arrives, Fibber receives what he's been waiting for: a 27-cent horoscope from the "You Can Be What You Want to Be" company. The elaborate astrological analysis promises to reveal everything about his health, business, marriage, lucky days, and even when to plant corn. As Fibber eagerly reads his Scorpio horoscope, things take an interesting turn. The forecast for March 16th predicts "a day of surprises" and mentions "the payment to Scorpio of a long overdue day by an old schoolmate." Just as Fibber puzzles over this mysterious prediction, Molly reveals that an old schoolmate named Stuffy Stilwell called while he was out—but Fibber can't quite remember who Stuffy Stilwell is. The horoscope's uncanny accuracy leaves Fibber wondering what other surprises the day might hold.

  8. Breakfast In Bed For Molly

    Oct 29, 2026 · 29 min

Originally Aired: March 2, 1943 Fibber McGee & Molly #354, "Breakfast In Bed For Molly," Fibber McGee decides to prove his domestic prowess by preparing breakfast in bed for Molly, despite her protestations that he's never made a waffle in his life. As Molly lounges upstairs calling out instructions about where to find oranges and cookbooks, Fibber tackles the kitchen with characteristic overconfidence. His culinary adventure quickly becomes a comedy of errors as he wrestles with confusing cookbook instructions from Henrietta Lewis, tries to understand what "sifted cake" means, and misinterprets "tartrate or phosphate" as baking soda. He even answers the phone to tell poor Pete that Geraldine wants nothing more to do with him. The chaos escalates when Fibber gets thrown flat on his back after shutting the refrigerator door on his bathrobe tassel. Undeterred by the mishap or Molly's growing concern from the living room sofa, Fibber remains determined to deliver those promised golden brown waffles, orange juice, eggs, and coffee, insisting that Molly deserves this special treatment for being "a good kid."

  9. Poker Game

    Oct 28, 2026 · 28 min

Originally Aired: February 23, 1943 Fibber McGee & Molly #353, "Poker Game," Fibber McGee is trying desperately to sneak out for an evening of poker with the boys, but he's having trouble coming up with a convincing excuse for Molly. He claims he's attending an important executive meeting at the Elks Club to discuss war effort labor problems, though his elaborate explanations only make Molly more suspicious. When little Teeny stops by, she innocently reveals that her father is also planning to attend the same "meeting" and drops hints about poker terminology, nearly exposing McGee's real plans. Molly claims she wouldn't mind if McGee just admitted he wanted to play cards, even though she notes he always loses his shirt at poker. As McGee continues to nervously cover his tracks with increasingly convoluted stories about the meeting, Molly announces that her friend Abigail might come over for the evening. The Old Timer then arrives seeking wedding advice, adding to the chaos as McGee tries to make his escape. The question remains whether McGee will successfully pull off his poker night deception or if his transparent excuses will finally catch up with him.

  10. Finding Skilled Workers

    Oct 27, 2026 · 28 min

Originally Aired: February 16, 1943 Fibber McGee & Molly #352, "Finding Skilled Workers," Fibber and Molly's morning routine is disrupted when their regular mailman Mr. Underwood has been replaced by a harried female postal carrier for the duration of the war. The new mailwoman complains bitterly about being chased and snapped at by dogs on her route, threatening to quit if the McGees get a canine of their own. Among the day's mail, they receive a government circular seeking workers with specialized skills - tack welders, flanging press operators, plate hangers, and outside machinists - for war production. The problem is, neither Fibber nor Molly has any idea what these jobs actually entail. Determined to do his patriotic duty anyway, Fibber decides to spread the word around Wistful Vista in hopes of finding someone with these mysterious qualifications. His neighbor the Old Timer drops by to show off an engagement ring for his sweetheart Bessie, though he's telling her his name is Whitley to match the inscription already engraved in the secondhand ring. As Fibber prepares to launch his recruitment campaign, he and Molly bicker over the proper terminology for various types of pigeons.

  11. Cleaning Hall Closet

    Oct 26, 2026 · 28 min

Originally Aired: February 2, 1943 Fibber McGee & Molly #350, "Cleaning Hall Closet," Molly has finally cornered Fibber into tackling a long-overdue chore: cleaning out the infamous hall closet at 79 Wistful Vista. Fibber invents every excuse imaginable to avoid the task, from needing to find his nail clippers to wanting to finish a crossword puzzle he hasn't even started yet. When a radio surveyor stops by asking about listening habits, Fibber eagerly uses the interruption to delay the inevitable. The closet remains stubbornly closed until the timid Mr. Wimple arrives to share his latest patriotic poem and needs to borrow the McGees' typewriter, which Fibber claims is inside the dreaded closet. Once Mr. Wimple opens the door, chaos erupts with the familiar avalanche of accumulated junk tumbling out. As Fibber and Molly sort through the debris, they discover forgotten treasures including a music box from Potoski, Michigan, leading to one of their trademark silly arguments about trailing arbutus versus arthritis. The Old Timer stops by needing help as a toastmaster, adding another layer of distraction to the cleanup project that Fibber seems determined never to finish.

  12. Fibber The Author

    Oct 25, 2026 · 29 min

Originally Aired: January 26, 1943 In Fibber McGee & Molly #349, "Fibber The Author," Fibber has caught the writing bug and is busily churning out what he believes will be America's next great novel. Working under the pen name Earl Stanley McGee, he crafts a melodramatic love story featuring Lieutenant Fragwell and the elegant Maisie Leprine, complete with improbable plot twists and purple prose. When neighbor Abigail Uppington stops by, she finds Fibber in full artistic mode, affecting a pretentious British accent and comparing himself to famous writers. Molly tolerates his newfound literary ambitions with her usual skeptical patience, while Abigail suggests he needs a literary agent to protect his interests. The situation takes an unexpected turn when a mysterious Miss Cheltenham calls, identifying herself as a literary agent who has somehow heard about Fibber's manuscript. Fibber is convinced his big break has arrived and that millions are just around the corner. He frantically works to finish his story, employing creative solutions to rescue his hero from a forty-foot cistern while awaiting the agent's arrival at 79 Wistful Vista.

  13. Uppy Joins The WAACs

    Oct 24, 2026 · 28 min

Originally Aired: January 19, 1943 Fibber McGee & Molly #348, "Uppy Joins The WAACs," Abigail Uppington pays a visit to the McGees with exciting news: she's planning to join the Women's Army Auxiliary Corps. As Abigail explains the basic qualifications, including citizenship, health requirements, and character references, Molly expresses genuine interest in the organization and even considers joining herself. This prospect sends Fibber into a panic as he realizes his wife might actually enlist, leaving him to fend for himself at home. Despite his attempts to dismiss the WAACs as mere strutting in fancy uniforms, Molly firmly corrects his misconceptions, pointing out that the women serve in crucial roles like rigging parachutes and driving jeeps, releasing men for frontline duty. The situation grows more complicated when the dubious Horatio K. Boomer arrives, claiming to be a reformed character now working in a defense plant. As he fumbles through his pockets searching for his identification badge, pulling out everything from copper wire to a letter from his jailed sister, the McGees remain skeptical about his supposed transformation while Fibber continues to worry about Molly's potential military service.

  14. Billy Mills In Hospital

    Oct 23, 2026 · 29 min

Originally Aired: January 12, 1943 Fibber McGee & Molly #347, "Billy Mills In Hospital," When Fibber volunteers to visit a hospitalized member of the Wistful Vista Chamber of Commerce, he's so eager to perform this act of civic kindness that he forgets to ask who the patient is or what ails them. Molly reminds him that his choice of gifts—candy, cigarettes, and joke books—might not be appropriate depending on the ailment. After checking back with the Chamber secretary, Fibber discovers the patient is none other than their orchestra leader, Billy Mills. The McGees quickly gather an eclectic assortment of treats, including Aunt Sarah's Christmas fruitcake, cigars, magazines, and bubble gum, though Molly worries about what could be wrong with their friend. On their way to the hospital, they encounter the Old Timer, just back from a trip to Chicago where he met a sergeant who described his war experiences using vegetable code words to protect military secrets. They also run into Mrs. Uppington, who's visiting her housekeeper. The well-meaning McGees head inside, loaded down with their questionable collection of gifts, hoping to cheer up Billy Mills.

  15. Cutting Old Suit For Molly

    Oct 22, 2026 · 29 min

Originally Aired: January 5, 1943 Fibber McGee & Molly #346, "Cutting Old Suit For Molly," In this episode, Fibber is in an unusually generous mood after enjoying one of Molly's delicious dinners and smoking a fine cigar from a mysterious box addressed to "Stinky from Cousin Waldorf." Neither Fibber nor Molly knows who Cousin Waldorf is, but Fibber is happy to adopt any relative with such good taste in cigars. When Molly asks what to do with an old blue pinstripe suit hanging in the hall closet, Fibber impulsively insists she deserves to have it cut down to fit her. Despite Molly's protests that the suit is in good condition and might still fit him if needed, Fibber calls his tailor Threadbaum to arrange the alteration. Just as the McGees prepare to head over to Threadbaum's shop with the suit, the doorbell rings. Abigail Uppington arrives asking to borrow ice skates, as she's starting skating lessons and doesn't want to invest in new skating shoes until she's certain she'll continue. After much evasion about sizes and allowing for heavy wool stockings, Abigail finally admits she needs size eleven and a half.

  16. Listening To Carols

    Oct 21, 2026 · 30 min

Originally Aired: December 22, 1942 In Fibber McGee & Molly #344, "Listening To Carols," Fibber is in his annual pre-Christmas grumpy mood, complaining loudly that the holiday has become too commercial and meaningless. Despite his protests about the hustle and bustle of shopping, tree trimming, and endless Christmas cards, Molly sees right through his act. She points out how he secretly bought an expensive doll for the little girl across the street, claiming it's just a bribe to keep her away, even though he's clearly shown the child kindness all year long. As visitors drop by to spread holiday cheer, including bandleader Billy Mills, Fibber continues his Scrooge-like routine, grumbling about every aspect of Christmas. When the little girl herself appears at the door with her gang of children ready to sing carols outside in the cold, Fibber's true feelings are about to be tested. Will his crusty exterior finally crack, or will he send the young carolers away into the winter night?

  17. Fibber Misplaces Christmas Money

    Oct 20, 2026 · 30 min

Originally Aired: December 15, 1942 Fibber McGee & Molly #343, "Fibber Misplaces Christmas Money," Fibber is beside himself with frustration, berating his own stupidity in the most colorful terms imaginable. The problem? He hid fifteen dollars last summer for Molly's Christmas present, and with only eight shopping days left until Christmas, he cannot remember where he put it. Despite searching through the sugar bowl (now holding something more precious than money - sugar itself), his collection of cellophane in a blue vase, and all his old clothes, the white envelope marked "do not touch until ten days before Christmas" remains frustratingly elusive. Molly tries to calm her frantic husband as he paces and frets, looking more haggard by the hour. When neighbor Abigail Uppington stops by on her way to her department store Santa Claus duties, she suggests a solution that sends Fibber rushing out the door with Molly in tow. A fortune teller might be just the answer to locating his missing Christmas money. Despite Molly's skepticism about "bargain basement gypsies" and Fibber's own doubts about their dingy reception room, desperation drives them to consult the mysterious Madame X.

  18. Women Taking Over

    Oct 19, 2026 · 29 min

Originally Aired: December 8, 1942 Fibber McGee & Molly #342, "Women Taking Over," Fibber spends all day trying to fix the vacuum cleaner, stubbornly refusing Molly's help while insisting that men are smarter and do all the important work in the world. Molly counters his boasting with witty examples of male inventions that create more problems than they solve, like the can opener that simply adds an extra step to cooking beans. When Fibber can't repair the vacuum because a part is missing, he wants to call the hardware store, only to discover the telephone is out of order. Things take an amusing turn when the telephone repair person arrives and turns out to be a woman. Despite Fibber's skepticism and condescending remarks, she quickly diagnoses the problem, fixes it efficiently, and leaves. As Fibber and Molly prepare to walk to the hardware store to save gas, they encounter more examples of women doing traditionally male jobs, including a female paper delivery person. Each encounter chips away at Fibber's insistence on male superiority while he continues to grumble about this changing world.

  19. Gasoline Rationing

    Oct 18, 2026 · 30 min

Originally Aired: December 1, 1942 Fibber McGee & Molly #341, "Gasoline Rationing," Fibber is in an uproar over the new wartime mileage rationing program, convinced that his meager A-book allotment of four gallons a week is a gross injustice to a man of his standing in the community. Despite Molly's patient attempts to explain that the rationing is necessary to save rubber for the war effort, Fibber insists on his rights as a citizen and threatens to write his congressman—though he can't quite remember who that is. When neighbor Mr. Wilcox stops by with news that Mayor LaTrivia has joined the Coast Guard, he takes the opportunity to set Fibber straight about his selfish attitude, pointing out that England has virtually no civilian driving and that putting personal convenience above winning the war is simply unacceptable. Stung by Wilcox's rebuke but not quite ready to admit defeat, Fibber continues his tirade about needing more than forty-eight miles worth of driving per week. His attempts to call the ration board to complain result in a typical McGee mishap when he reaches Mert instead, leading to a confused conversation about black widows and pulled window shades that goes nowhere fast.

  20. Fibber Getting In Condition

    Oct 17, 2026 · 29 min

Originally Aired: November 24, 1942 In Fibber McGee & Molly #340, "Fibber Getting In Condition," Molly tries to rouse her husband from bed early one morning, only to inadvertently spark his determination to prove he's not the "tired old man" she teasingly suggests he's becoming. When Fibber notices his expanding waistline and realizes he's developing quite a "bay window," he commits to a rigorous new health regimen complete with morning exercises, a strict diet, and long walks. Despite his enthusiastic declarations about eating nothing but orange juice and black coffee, Fibber's willpower proves questionable when faced with Molly's tempting buckwheat cakes. The morning's activity is interrupted by a visit from their society friend Abigail Uppington, who stops by to share tales from her evening as a hostess at the servicemen's canteen. She regales them with stories of dancing with soldiers, including her amusing misunderstanding of military insignia and a memorable tumble with a helpful Marine. Meanwhile, Fibber prepares to demonstrate his new exercise routine to a skeptical Molly, determined to shed his extra spare tire despite having just consumed fourteen buckwheat cakes.

  21. Twenty Thousand Dollars In Sofa

    Oct 16, 2026 · 30 min

Originally Aired: November 17, 1942 In Fibber McGee & Molly #339, "Twenty Thousand Dollars In Sofa," Fibber is content to stay indoors during a snowstorm until Molly mentions she spotted his long-lost army uniform in the attic. This discovery prompts an enthusiastic trip upstairs to clean out years of accumulated possessions. As they dig through the clutter, Fibber regales Molly with tales of his sharpshooter's medal and military exploits, while little Teeny drops by hoping someone will pull her sled in the snow. The attic expedition turns into a nostalgic journey through the McGees' past as they uncover old newspapers, torn uniforms, and forgotten treasures. Fibber's enthusiasm for reliving his glory days competes with Molly's practical determination to finally tackle the long-overdue cleaning project. As they sort through the dusty relics and memories, the couple must decide what to keep and what to discard from their overstuffed storage space.

  22. Looking for Uppy’s Nephew

    Oct 15, 2026 · 30 min

Originally Aired: November 10, 1942 In Fibber McGee & Molly #338, "Looking for Uppy's Nephew," Mrs. Uppington arrives at 79 Wistful Vista with an unusual request. She asks Fibber to mentor her wayward nephew, praising him as just the man to give the young man advice on making something of himself. Fibber eagerly accepts this chance to be a good influence, swelling with pride as he imagines sharing his wisdom about climbing the ladder of success. However, as Mrs. Uppington describes her nephew's background, some troubling details emerge. The boy has been rejected by the Army, Navy, and Marines for various mishaps, including signing an application as Ulysses S. Grant and relieving a sergeant of his watch. Despite these red flags, and Molly's skeptical observations about Fibber's own qualifications as a mentor, Fibber remains determined to straighten out the young man. There's just one problem: Fibber can't remember the nephew's name, even though Mrs. Uppington mentions he recently beat Fibber at pool. As Fibber prepares to track down the young man at the spaghetti restaurant where he works, he finds himself waylaid by a young girl with important information about the Junior Red Cross recruitment drive.

  23. Duck Hunting

    Oct 14, 2026 · 27 min

Originally Aired: November 3, 1942 Fibber McGee & Molly #337, "Duck Hunting," Fibber McGee drags Mayor LaTrivia out to Mud Lake for what he promises will be a successful duck hunting expedition, boasting about his natural hunting instincts and professional experience. However, the outing quickly devolves into disaster as Fibber accidentally throws the thermos of hot coffee overboard instead of using it as an anchor, mistakes Army planes for ducks in V-formation, and can't stop talking long enough to let any actual ducks come near. The frustrated mayor threatens to leave after Fibber fires at airplanes while waving at actual waterfowl. Back home, Molly fields phone calls from neighbors expecting ducks, having already promised away seven birds before the hunters return. When Fibber finally arrives home exhausted with only a single duck, Old Timer stops by hoping for his share. The tale of the disastrous hunt unfolds, revealing that Fibber's gun accidentally blew a hole in the bottom of the boat, nearly resulting in Mayor LaTrivia trying to push Fibber's head through it. Despite the chaos, Fibber insists his lone duck represents the finest marksmanship he's ever displayed.

  24. Old Timer On The Lam

    Oct 13, 2026 · 30 min

Originally Aired: October 27, 1942 In Fibber McGee & Molly #336, "Old Timer On The Lam," panic strikes at 79 Wistful Vista when the Old Timer pounds on the door, begging Fibber and Molly to hide him from the law. The frantic visitor claims the FBI and police are hot on his trail, convinced he'll spend a hundred years in prison for his terrible crime. Despite their better judgment, the McGees agree to conceal their friend, stuffing him behind the davenport just as Mrs. Uppington arrives for a visit. As the Old Timer sneezes, knocks over lamps, and desperately hides from each new arrival, Fibber and Molly struggle to maintain their composure while their unexpected houseguest grows increasingly dramatic about his fate. The situation grows more absurd as the Old Timer confesses to being a traitor and "dirty old benefit Arnold," all while refusing to explain exactly what he's done beyond rambling about his childhood in Terre Haute, Indiana. With every knock at the door sending him into fresh panic, the McGees find themselves accessories to a crime they know nothing about, protecting a friend whose guilt remains mysteriously unexplained.

  25. Family Tree

    Oct 12, 2026 · 30 min

Originally Aired: October 20, 1942 Fibber McGee & Molly #335, "Family Tree," Fibber is contentedly spending a gorgeous autumn day indoors with his newspapers and cigar, working on his All-American football picks, much to Molly's frustration as she tries to coax him outside for a walk. Their domestic tranquility is interrupted when Abigail Uppington arrives, practically bursting with pride over her election as president of the Children of the Mayflower, an exclusive organization for direct descendants of the Pilgrims. When Uppington condescends about how difficult it is to trace one's genealogy so far back, Fibber bristles at the implication that his family lacks such distinguished heritage. Determined to prove that the McGee lineage is just as prestigious as any Uppington, Fibber announces he's heading straight to the public library to research his family tree. His hasty preparation is interrupted by the inevitable opening of the hall closet, and then by a visit from the Old Timer, who has an unusual request involving Fibber's front lawn and a peculiar remedy for preventing colds.
