  1. Fibber Builds Telescope

    Aug 22, 2026 · 29 min

Originally Aired: April 8, 1941 In Fibber McGee & Molly #282, "Fibber Builds Telescope," Fibber has taken up astronomy and spends his nights squinting at the stars through opera glasses, straining his eyes so badly that Molly insists he needs to see an optometrist. But Fibber has a solution: he's building his own telescope to study the constellations properly. He hints mysteriously that he may have discovered something important in the night sky, though he's keeping it secret until he can confirm his findings. The project consumes his attention while Molly worries about his deteriorating eyesight. The domestic scene is interrupted by visits from Nick Depopolis, who apologetically delivers Molly's chocolate Easter rabbit order that ended up looking more like a reindeer or water buffalo than a bunny, and the high-society Mrs. Uppington, who stops by to discuss Easter parade fashions. When Fibber jokingly suggests the ladies could use his telescope to spy on Mrs. Uppington's Easter finery through her windows, the jest backfires spectacularly, leading to an awkward confrontation between the neighbors.

  2. Missing Fender

    Aug 21, 2026 · 28 min

Originally Aired: April 1, 1941 In Fibber McGee & Molly #281, "Missing Fender," Molly returns home from a shopping trip with Mrs. Uppington and makes a startling discovery: the car's left rear fender is missing, apparently lost when she scraped against a parked truck at Fourteenth and Oak. Desperate to prove her driving skills to her skeptical husband, Molly faces a dilemma. Mrs. Uppington suggests keeping the incident secret from Fibber, and Gildersleeve volunteers to rush to the dealer and have a replacement fender installed before McGee notices. The conspirators spring into action, with Gildersleeve attempting to delay Fibber on the street while Molly hides the car in the garage. Despite Molly's attempts to confess, the well-meaning but bumbling efforts of Mrs. Uppington and Gildersleeve keep interrupting her. Gildersleeve spins an absurd tale about the dangers of greasing a hot car, complete with visions of Fibber imprisoned in Alcatraz, all to keep him away from the damaged vehicle. As Gildersleeve rushes off to handle the "secret" repair and Molly grows increasingly uncomfortable with the deception, the stage is set for the inevitable moment when Fibber discovers what everyone has been hiding from him.

  3. Fibber Changes His Name to Ronald

    Aug 20, 2026 · 29 min

Originally Aired: March 25, 1941 Fibber McGee & Molly #280, "Fibber Changes His Name to Ronald," Fibber is mortified after being turned down by the army, but what really stings is that nobody in town believed his enlistment attempt was sincere in the first place. When even a hungry neighborhood girl repeats what her mother says about taking everything Fibber says with a grain of salt, he reaches his breaking point. Convinced that his very name is the problem, Fibber decides to legally change it to something more dignified and respectable. After rejecting options like Chauncey, Pierpont, and Marmaduke, he settles on Ronald McGee, certain this new moniker will finally earn him the respect he deserves. Molly tries to talk sense into her husband, pointing out the practical complications of changing his name, from monogrammed handkerchiefs to tattooed initials. As they head downtown to make the change official, they encounter the elegant Mrs. Uppington, giving Fibber his first chance to introduce himself as Ronald McGee. But when Mrs. Uppington dismisses the whole notion that a name determines one's character, Fibber's grand plan begins to look less certain.

  4. Fibber Is Drafted

    Aug 19, 2026 · 29 min

Originally Aired: March 18, 1941 Fibber McGee & Molly #279, "Fibber Is Drafted," When the mailman arrives at 79 Wistful Vista, Fibber receives an unexpected letter from the U.S. government ordering him to report for induction into the Army. Despite being overage with flat feet, bad eyesight, and carrying an extra twenty pounds, Fibber insists he legitimately registered for the draft weeks ago and passed his physical examination. Molly is stunned and skeptical about the whole situation, struggling to believe her husband could actually be called to serve. The news seems impossible, yet the official letter from the President appears genuine. As word spreads, neighbor Abigail Uppington drops by and finds the entire situation absolutely hilarious, unable to picture the portly, middle-aged Fibber as part of Uncle Sam's fighting forces. Her fits of laughter only fuel Fibber's determination to prove he's really been drafted. With orders to report to the station at five o'clock the following morning, Fibber begins preparing for his sudden departure while Molly grapples with the reality of becoming a war bride again.

  5. Quarantined With Measles

    Aug 18, 2026 · 26 min

Originally Aired: March 11, 1941 Fibber McGee & Molly #278, "Quarantined With Measles," the McGee household has become a pressure cooker of frayed nerves and short tempers. After a full week trapped together under quarantine, Fibber and Molly's unwilling houseguests are at their breaking point. Throckmorton Gildersleeve desperately tries to escape through what he thinks is the front door, only to discover it's a closet, while worrying about his girdle factory being run by his wife. The sharp-tongued Abigail Uppington complains bitterly about the "horrible house," and tensions rise as some of the men retreat to the basement for poker games. The doctor hasn't returned since the quarantine began, leaving everyone wondering when their confinement will end. Meanwhile, Fibber attempts to entertain the measles-stricken little girl responsible for their predicament, but his patience wears thin as she constantly changes her mind between wanting stories and food. His attempts to tell her classic fairy tales keep getting derailed by his own mental associations with eating, while she interrupts with conflicting requests for Superman, Dick Tracy, and snacks. As Fibber's frustration mounts and he confesses to hating everyone including himself, the question remains: how much longer can this motley crew survive together under one roof?

  6. The McGees Give A Party

    Aug 17, 2026 · 26 min

Originally Aired: March 4, 1941 Fibber McGee & Molly #277, "The McGees Give A Party," Fibber and Molly are determined to throw an elaborate buffet party to prove to everyone in Wistful Vista that they aren't broke, after last week's misunderstanding left the whole town thinking they were down on their luck. Molly prepares an impressive spread while Fibber coordinates borrowed items from various neighbors, including folding chairs from Gildersleeve, a punch bowl from Mrs. Uppington, and phonograph records from Harlow Wilcox. As guests begin arriving, including Billy Mills, Nick the Greek, and the pompous Mrs. Uppington with her goldfish bowl instead of a punch bowl, the chaos of party preparation unfolds with typical McGee mishaps. Out in the kitchen, the Old Timer struggles to turn the ice cream freezer while suffering from mysterious chills and fever, sitting on a block of ice to stay cool. Wilcox makes an embarrassingly sweet long-distance call to his wife using sickeningly cute pet names while the McGees eavesdrop. As more guests arrive and Fibber nervously wonders where Gildersleeve is, the party threatens to spiral into the kind of comedic disaster that only the McGees can orchestrate.

  7. Bottle Collector

    Aug 16, 2026 · 29 min

Originally Aired: February 25, 1941 Fibber McGee & Molly #276, "Bottle Collector," Fibber has been quietly pursuing an unusual hobby for three years, carefully saving every empty bottle that comes into the house. When Molly finally asks about his mysterious collection, he proudly reveals his master plan: to cash in all 537 bottles for a grand refund of approximately eleven dollars. Despite Molly's skepticism about the meager payoff for three years of effort, Fibber insists it's been a fun hobby that kept him off the streets. They load up the car with Molly nestled uncomfortably among the damp, dripping bottles and head downtown to the grocery store. Along the way, they encounter the Old Timer, who shares his own peculiar hobbies, and Teeny, the little girl who hilariously confuses "rebate" with "re-bait" for fishing. Just as Fibber prepares to haul his precious cargo into the store, Nick DePopoulos accidentally crashes into him, smashing several bottles. However, the clumsy collision might prove more profitable than Fibber's original plan when Nick offers to pay for the broken bottles and even asks to buy more.

  8. Early To Bed

    Aug 15, 2026 · 59 min

Originally Aired: February 18, 1941 Fibber McGee & Molly #275, "Early To Bed," Fibber makes an uncharacteristic decision to turn in early at 8:30 PM to get a good night's rest before appearing on the Lux Radio Theater the following week. Molly is astonished by this sudden change in her husband's habits after years of staying up late. However, their plans for ten hours of beauty sleep are immediately derailed when a series of interruptions begin. First, little Teeny stops by and Fibber regales her with an elaborate tale about pixies filling reservoirs with melted snow, only to be corrected by the precocious child's knowledge of equinoxes. Then Mrs. Uppington arrives asking for help with her broken-down automobile in front of their house. Despite his bedtime plans, Fibber can't resist showing off his automotive expertise, boasting about his days as "Big Stinker McGee" at the Biggs bodyworks. He launches into one of his trademark tongue-twisting alliterations about his mechanical prowess before spending three hours in the freezing cold working on Uppington's car, only to discover it was simply out of gasoline. By 1:30 AM, as the exhausted couple finally prepares for bed, strange sounds on the front porch suggest their eventful evening may not be over yet.

  9. Fibber the Watch Salesman

    Aug 14, 2026 · 26 min

Originally Aired: February 11, 1941 Fibber McGee & Molly #274, "Fibber the Watch Salesman," Fibber receives an unexpected package containing a leather case embossed with his name and the title "Special Representative of the Meaning Watch Corporation." Molly reveals she met the company president at a bridge party and recommended Fibber for the position, which comes with a $50 drawing account and 10% commission. Ever the dreamer, Fibber immediately calculates that selling one hundred watches at $100 apiece would earn him $1,000 a week, leading him to fantasize about moving into a hotel suite. Despite having no experience in sales and refusing to read the instructional pamphlet, Fibber confidently declares the watches will "sell themselves." Armed with his sample case and dressed up with a necktie for the occasion, Fibber sets out with Molly to make his first sales call at the Whistle Vista Friendly Credit Jewelers. Along the way, they encounter the Old Timer and little Teeny, who is planning Abraham Lincoln's birthday party. When they finally arrive at the jewelry store and meet the proprietor, Vero Savadier, Fibber launches into his pitch, eager to prove himself as a watch salesman.

  10. Fibber Buys A New Suit

    Aug 13, 2026 · 28 min

Originally Aired: February 4, 1941 In Fibber McGee & Molly #273, "Fibber Buys A New Suit," Molly tries to convince her husband that it's time to update his wardrobe. Fibber's current suit is a disaster - with shiny elbows, frayed cuffs, and knees that look like he's been smuggling cantaloupes. When Molly reminds him how dapper he looked when they were married, with his fancy vest and yellow topcoat with the black velvet collar, Fibber insists he dresses for comfort and doesn't need to compete with the well-dressed neighbors like Gildersleeve, Wilcox, and Uncle Dennis. However, after his belt literally bursts during an attempt to show off his chest expansion, Fibber's pride gets the better of him. Determined to prove he can look just as sharp as anyone on Wistful Vista, Fibber declares he'll go downtown and get a whole new outfit that will make the other men look like hitchhikers. The couple heads to the clothing store, where Fibber examines the window display and tries to cultivate what he calls a "nonchalant and supercilious" air befitting a man about to make a major sartorial investment.

  11. McGee Takes Piano Lessons

    Aug 12, 2026 · 28 min

Originally Aired: January 21, 1941 Fibber McGee & Molly #271, "McGee Takes Piano Lessons," After attending a piano concert the night before, Fibber finds himself seized by artistic ambition and decides he must learn to play the piano. Despite Molly's skepticism and reminders about past failures with the mandolin, Fibber drags her to the music store to arrange lessons. He purchases a beginner's book called "Cantatas for the Kiddies" and insists he isn't too proud to start at the bottom. Back home, he enthusiastically practices on the old piano, causing the neighbors to complain about the noise while he struggles to understand what the pedals do, confusing them for a car's brake and clutch. When Mrs. Uppington stops by, the very woman who gave them the concert tickets, she reveals her own impressive piano background and demonstrates her considerable skill at the keyboard. Her performance of a folk song from Brittany thoroughly outclasses Fibber's fumbling attempts, but our stubborn hero remains undeterred, convinced he'll soon master the mighty instrument and become the star of card parties.

  12. Fibber gets a $100.00 bill

    Aug 11, 2026 · 28 min

Originally Aired: January 7, 1941 Fibber McGee & Molly #269, "Fibber gets a $100.00 bill," When Fibber withdraws $100 from the 14th National Bank for current expenses, he decides to take the entire amount as a single crisp hundred-dollar bill to feel prosperous for once. Despite Molly's sensible suggestion to get smaller bills, Fibber is eager to flash his wealth around Wistful Vista and impress neighbors like Gildersleeve and Mrs. Uppington. His plan quickly falls apart when he loses his only quarter at a parking lot and the attendant refuses to accept the hundred-dollar bill as proof he's good for the 25 cents. With the bank closed for the day, Fibber and Molly find themselves stranded. The McGees begin a frustrating trek around town trying to get the bill changed. They encounter the snooty Mrs. Uppington, who refuses to help and lectures Fibber about the germs on paper money. As Fibber tries various establishments without success and Molly grows tired, cold, and hungry, the couple finds themselves miles from home, learning the hard way that sometimes having too much money in one place is just as bad as having none at all.

  13. Fibber Finds Watch

    Aug 10, 2026 · 30 min

Originally Aired: December 31, 1940 Fibber McGee & Molly #268, "Fibber Finds Watch," In this episode, Fibber and Molly are wrapping up their year-end finances with Mr. Wootey, consolidating all their debts into one payment plan. Just as they finish refinancing their home, car, and furniture, they encounter their society friend Mrs. Uppington, who invites them to a formal New Year's party and requests they bring Uncle Dennis. As they walk along, Fibber spots something gleaming in the gutter – a beautiful gold watch that someone has apparently lost. Despite Fibber's immediate desire to keep his lucky find, Molly reminds him of his position as Chamber of Commerce president and insists they do the right thing by advertising for the owner. At the Gazette office, they meet a cynical ad-taker who shares his jaded philosophy about returning lost items, based on his own disappointing childhood experience. As Fibber and Molly work with him to compose their lost-and-found advertisement, the situation becomes increasingly complicated as the ad-taker demonstrates his expertise in abbreviating ads down to almost nothing.

  14. The Radio Phonograph

    Aug 9, 2026 · 29 min

Originally Aired: December 24, 1940 Fibber McGee & Molly #267, "The Radio Phonograph," Fibber and Molly are enjoying a cozy evening at 79 Wistful Vista when a delivery arrives from the Bonton Department Store containing a beautiful combination radio and phonograph. Their excitement turns to dismay when they discover the package is actually addressed to their neighbor, Mr. Gildersleeve. Despite Molly's protests, Fibber's curiosity gets the better of him, and he insists on unwrapping and testing the elaborate machine. What starts as innocent tinkering quickly turns catastrophic when the automatic record changer malfunctions spectacularly, reducing the expensive gift to a pile of junk. Panicking at the thought of facing Gildersleeve's wrath, Fibber and Molly hatch a desperate plan to replace the destroyed phonograph before their neighbor discovers what happened. They rush to the Bonton Department Store, fighting through holiday crowds and encountering a hiccupping floor walker who directs them toward the radio department. Along the way, they run into Harlow Wilcox, who cheerfully shows off his own peculiar Christmas present from the sponsor.

  15. Mailing Christmas Packages

    Jun 12, 2026 · 30 min

Originally Aired: December 10, 1940 In Fibber McGee & Molly #265, "Mailing Christmas Packages," Fibber and Molly prepare to head to the post office with an armload of gifts for their relatives. Their plans are complicated when their neighbor Gildersleeve drops by—not with Christmas presents for them, but with his own packages for Fibber to mail while he's out. What starts as a simple favor quickly escalates into a typical McGee-Gildersleeve squabble when Fibber agrees to purchase stamps for his neighbor as well. The argument reaches a fever pitch when the two men disagree over whether the post office even makes four-cent stamps. Fibber insists on his expertise, boasting about his past employment at the post office branch in the Savoy Hotel, launching into one of his famous alliterative boasts about his mail-handling prowess. As Molly tries to keep the peace and the packages pile higher, the simple errand of mailing Christmas gifts threatens to become far more complicated than anyone anticipated.

  16. Five Tons Of Coal

    May 29, 2026 · 29 min

Originally Aired: December 3, 1940 Fibber McGee & Molly #264, "Five Tons Of Coal," finds the McGees attempting to organize their Christmas shopping list when Mrs. Uppington arrives selling raffle tickets for her club's fundraiser. What follows is a hilariously confusing exchange of quarters, half dollars, and nickels that leaves everyone uncertain who owes whom what. The real conflict erupts when neighbor Throckmorton P. Gildersleeve arrives to borrow his coal shovel, revealing that someone told the coal delivery driver to dump five tons of coal on his front lawn instead of in the basement. When Fibber admits he was the "helpful" neighbor who gave those instructions, Gildersleeve explodes in anger. The two men launch into their characteristic battle of insults and threats, with Fibber going so far as to have Molly dramatically remove Gildersleeve's name from their Christmas list and revoke his daisy air rifle gift. Gildersleeve counters by mentioning the boy scout knife with six blades he planned to give Fibber. As tensions escalate and Christmas spirit hangs in the balance, the question remains whether these feuding neighbors will reconcile and whether Fibber will help shovel those five tons of coal into Gildersleeve's basement.

  17. Uncle Dennis Visits

    May 28, 2026 · 30 min

Originally Aired: November 26, 1940 Fibber McGee & Molly #263, "Uncle Dennis Visits," Fibber and Molly return home after a week away to find their house at 79 Wistful Vista in complete chaos. Cigar butts, poker chips, empty glasses, dirty dishes, and a tipped-over coal bucket litter the living room. The culprit is unmistakable: Molly's Uncle Dennis has been staying there while they were gone. Fibber is furious about the mess and worries they've lost all their friends in the neighborhood thanks to Dennis's wild behavior. Molly tries to defend her eccentric uncle, reminding Fibber that Dennis gave her away at their wedding, though Fibber reveals Dennis actually sold her for nine dollars. As they clean up, a young girl stops by asking for Uncle Dennis, praising his colorful storytelling style. She's been listening to his version of Jack and the Beanstalk, which Fibber learns is filled with slang and unconventional language. Despite Fibber's attempts to retell the story properly, the girl insists Uncle Dennis does it better, leaving Fibber increasingly exasperated with his absent houseguest.

  18. Visiting Uncle Dennis

    May 27, 2026 · 28 min

Originally Aired: November 19, 1940 Fibber McGee & Molly #262, "Visiting Uncle Dennis," Fibber receives a letter from Molly's Uncle Dennis inviting them to visit for Thanksgiving, but he's less than enthusiastic about the prospect. Fibber makes no secret of his distaste for Uncle Dennis, claiming they can't stand each other and making unflattering remarks about the man's fondness for drink. Molly, however, has warm childhood memories of her uncle and insists they make the trip. Despite his protests, Fibber reveals his suitcase is already packed, admitting he knew all along he couldn't get out of going. The McGees' preparations hit a snag when their neighbor Gildersleeve stops by demanding the return of his suitcase, which Fibber has been using. After some typical bickering about Gildersleeve's college days at Princeton, the couple boards the train where they encounter the Old Timer working as conductor. As they settle in for the journey, Fibber continues grumbling about Uncle Dennis while Molly defends her relative, setting the stage for what promises to be an eventful holiday visit.

  19. Fibber’s Black Eye

    May 26, 2026 · 29 min

Originally Aired: November 12, 1940 Fibber McGee & Molly #261, "Fibber's Black Eye," Fibber arrives home in the dark and accidentally walks into a door, giving himself a spectacular black eye. When Molly turns on the lights and sees his shiner, she's immediately skeptical of his explanation. Despite Fibber's insistence that he really did bump into the door, Molly assumes he got into a fight, perhaps with their neighbor Gildersleeve, during his day spent downtown discussing politics. The more Fibber protests his innocence, the less Molly seems to believe him, creating an awkward situation as he tries desperately to convince her of the truth. As the McGees head to the doctor's office to have the eye examined, Fibber becomes increasingly self-conscious about his appearance. They encounter various neighbors and acquaintances along the way, including Old Timer and the enterprising little girl who's running a baby buggy parking lot with Willie Toops. Each person they meet comments on Fibber's impressive shiner, making him feel more embarrassed and causing him to duck into doorways to avoid further humiliation.

  20. Election Day

    May 25, 2026 · 29 min

Originally Aired: November 5, 1940 Fibber McGee & Molly #260, "Election Day," finds the McGees serving as election officials at their home at 79 Wistful Vista, eager to win a $250 prize offered by the Good Government Club for achieving 100% voter turnout in their precinct. As citizens like Nick Depopoulos arrive to cast their ballots, Fibber attempts to maintain his authority as "Judge McGee" while Molly reminds him to stay nonpartisan. Between voters, the couple engages in their typical comic banter, with Fibber launching into a rambling story about his circus days and a friend named Charlie who supposedly played a cantaloupe in parades. With only 22 more voters needed for a perfect turnout, the McGees tune in to receive real election returns from the NBC newsroom, hearing early results from the Roosevelt-Willkie presidential race. Throughout the episode, various Wistful Vista residents stop by to vote, including the ever-confused Mr. Flanagan, who wants to bring his 16-year-old son to vote because listening to campaign speeches has supposedly aged him five years. The McGees balance their official duties with their characteristic comedy, all while keeping one eye on winning that coveted prize money.

The McGee car becomes increasingly cramped as Mrs. Uppington, Gildersleeve, Billy Mills, Nick Diopoulos, Harlow Wilcox, the Old Timer, Mr. Boomer, and Molly all squeeze in. Nick brings a chunk of ice for the radiator in case it overheats, Mrs. Uppington settles onto someone's lap, and the Old Timer wedges himself into the luggage compartment. The seating arrangements lead to comedic complaints and wisecracks from the overcrowded passengers. Just as everyone is finally situated and ready for their road trip, Fibber discovers the car won't start. He frantically tries to get the engine running while his increasingly impatient passengers offer unhelpful commentary. A young girl appears and observes the chaos, eventually solving Fibber's problem with an embarrassingly simple solution that reveals the real reason behind his mechanical difficulties.

    May 23, 2026 · 28 min

Gildersleeve's personal diary has been accidentally thrown out with the trash. Despite Molly's earnest pleas that reading someone else's diary would be a terrible invasion of privacy, Fibber can't resist the temptation to unlock its secrets. The situation grows more complicated when Gildersleeve himself arrives at the McGee home, nervously searching for something he's lost. When he casually offers Fibber a key that might open a briefcase, Molly and Fibber must scramble to hide the diary they're concealing. As Fibber dons gloves to avoid leaving fingerprints and dives deeper into the diary's pages, he uncovers entries spanning decades of Gildersleeve's life, from humorous mundane observations to surprisingly prescient predictions. Meanwhile, young Teeny drops by and engages Fibber in a conversation about fairy tales that reveals how much the precocious girl has outgrown children's stories. The stage is set for potential embarrassment and comedy as Fibber possesses intimate knowledge of his neighbor's private thoughts.

    May 22, 2026 · 29 min

He can't fix the broken light socket in the cellar without it, and he can't use his jackknife because he broke the point off using it as a makeshift screwdriver. As Molly watches him dump the contents of his tool chest across the floor, revealing an absurd collection of broken gadgets and forgotten projects, Fibber insists he needs the screwdriver for a special repair project he wants to keep secret as a surprise for her. The situation grows more complicated when the elegant Mrs. Uppington stops by and accidentally steps into an old camera, then nearly gets caught when Fibber himself gets trapped in a bear trap from his collection. Despite Molly's exasperated suggestions that he simply buy a new screwdriver at the hardware store, Fibber remains stubbornly determined to find his original tool, leading to increasingly ridiculous complications.

While Fibber reluctantly agrees to the treatment, Molly knows her husband all too well. The doctor privately gives Molly a secret weapon—a bottle of medicine that, when added to coffee in small doses, makes tobacco taste terrible. He warns her to use only three drops at a time. No sooner does Fibber leave the doctor's office than his willpower begins to crumble. Despite handing over his cigars to Molly for safekeeping, Fibber quickly finds an excuse to duck into a drugstore, where he purchases a cigar and secretly orders a whole box of El Ropos to be delivered to the Elks Club. As he tries to rationalize smoking "just one drag" to prove his willpower to Molly, it becomes clear that his attempt to quit will be anything but easy.

As Fibber grows increasingly agitated, Gildersleeve reveals that water from an upstairs bathroom flooded through the ceiling, causing extensive damage to their home. The two neighbors nearly come to blows over the catastrophe before Molly intervenes and schedules their argument for the next day at eleven o'clock. Meanwhile, their friend Harlow Wilcox stops by to welcome them home, and the little girl from across the street delivers surprising news. She announces that she's leaving the show after receiving other offers, with her agent Willie Toops representing her. The McGees are shocked by her sudden departure and her newfound Hollywood attitude, though they wish her well as they try to make sense of both their damaged home and the unexpected changes awaiting them.
