About this episode

Originally Aired: February 6, 1939 The Lone Ranger #941, "Johnny's Gold Mine," follows young Johnny Thompson, a sailor aboard the schooner Betsy Ann, who receives a dying gift from his shipmate Luke Ross. After Johnny saves him from a deck accident, the grateful Luke bequeaths him a precious map to a gold mine discovered by Luke's brother Jake in the western mountains. The map leads to untold riches and includes instructions to find Silas Hanson in the town of Osage, a prospector whom Jake wanted to share in the claim. However, Johnny's secret doesn't stay hidden for long. As Johnny heads west toward Osage, danger follows close behind. A shifty British sailor known as Limey, who overheard about the map aboard ship, has joined forces with the ruthless outlaw Baldy and his partner Ike. The trio plans to intercept Johnny and steal the map for themselves. Meanwhile, when Tonto stumbles upon their camp and is captured, the Lone Ranger must track down his missing companion. The masked rider's timely arrival interrupts the outlaws' scheme, but the race to protect Johnny Thompson and his golden inheritance has only just begun.
