About this episode

Originally Aired: May 16, 1938 The Lone Ranger #827, "No Worse Enemy," a wagon train on the western frontier faces a crisis as internal conflict threatens to tear the party apart. Peter Ridley, the wagon master, and his longtime friend Amos Carver have become bitter enemies, quarreling over leadership and decisions. Scout Sam Dougal secretly fans the flames of discord between the two men, pushing them toward a final confrontation. When the dispute over buffalo hunting reaches a boiling point, Carver announces that he and half the wagon train will split off at the fork where the Oregon and Santa Fe trails divide, leaving Ridley to take the other route with his supporters. Meanwhile, Tonto discovers a gang of outlaws posing as trappers in the nearby hills. When he attempts to spy on their camp, he is spotted and captured after being grazed by a bullet. The masked rider's faithful companion now finds himself at the mercy of Rick Logan and his men, who are clearly connected to the wagon train's troubles. As the truth about Sam Dougal's treacherous scheme begins to emerge, both Tonto and the divided wagon train face mounting danger.
