About this episode
Originally Aired: May 11, 1943 In Fibber McGee & Molly #364, "Fibber's Barometer Indicates Snow," Fibber arrives home proudly brandishing his latest purchase: a brand new barometer that he insists will scientifically predict the weather. When Molly points out that one of the hands is missing, Fibber explains it's not a clock at all, but a sophisticated weather instrument. His excitement quickly turns to alarm when the barometer appears to indicate that snow is coming tomorrow—on the twelfth of May. Despite Molly's skepticism and the Old Timer's invitation to go fishing based on his own rheumatic joints, Fibber becomes convinced his barometer is correct. Fibber's obsession with his new gadget leads him to call the weather bureau and even contact the Wistful Vista Gazette to warn them about the impending snowstorm. As Fibber fusses over finding the perfect spot to hang his barometer—drilling multiple holes in the wall—Molly tries to talk sense into him, reminding him that it hasn't snowed in May in their area for a hundred years. The situation escalates as Abigail Uppington arrives to remind them about her lawn party scheduled for the next day.
