About this episode
Originally Aired: February 15, 1939 The Lone Ranger #945, "Black Caballero Part 2," the notorious Black Caballero has escaped from the White Springs jail less than two weeks after his arrest and resumed his criminal activities across the territory. Ranch owner Alva Carlson, who is running for sheriff against the current lawman, Sheriff Ramsey, confronts Ramsey with suspicious circumstances surrounding the outlaw's escape. Carlson points to inconsistencies in Ramsey's story and questions why the sheriff sent his deputy Steve home the night of the breakout, as well as where Ramsey recently acquired unexpected spending money. The heated confrontation turns threatening when Ramsey warns Carlson to drop out of the election and stop spreading suspicions, or face consequences that could affect both Carlson and his daughter Grace's relationship with deputy Steve. Meanwhile, the Lone Ranger and Tonto investigate the connection between Sheriff Ramsey and the Black Caballero. After Tonto reports another stagecoach holdup and the masked rider observes Ramsey's visit to the Carlson ranch, their suspicions grow stronger that someone in authority is feeding information to the outlaw. However, the Lone Ranger insists they need concrete proof before taking action against the corrupt sheriff.
