About this episode

Originally Aired: March 27, 1939 The Lone Ranger #962, "Thad Packard's Revenge," The Lone Ranger and Tonto rescue a desperate man from quicksand in a treacherous swamp, only to discover he is Thad Packard, a recently released convict consumed by thoughts of vengeance. Packard, aged beyond his years by ten harsh years in prison, obsessively mutters three names: Whitlock, Timmins, and Judson. The masked man recognizes Packard's story—an innocent man who confessed to robbery after the three men promised to protect him, only to be betrayed and sent to prison. Now free with a full pardon, Packard is determined to make the trio pay, even if it means returning to jail himself. Meanwhile, Packard's wife and young daughter Sally live in a small cottage, having spent the past decade trying to forget him. When Banker Whitlock visits Mrs. Packard to warn her that her husband has been released, Sally overhears the conversation and becomes curious about the father she barely remembers. As the Lone Ranger tries to reason with the vengeful Packard, a confrontation looms that could destroy what remains of Packard's family or finally expose the truth about his conviction.
