About this episode
Originally Aired: March 20, 1939 In The Lone Ranger #959, "Mustang Mag Dispossessed," a tough-talking ranch owner faces losing everything when an old will surfaces to challenge her claim to the land. Mustang Mag inherited her choice property from Sam Slocum, but the scheming Mert Morton arrives with devastating news: he's found a later will in Sam's old hideout that leaves the ranch to him instead. According to Morton and his man Scar, Sam changed his mind about leaving Mag the property after she refused to marry him, blaming her for his outlaw life before he took his own life. Judge Clay and the sheriff have already examined the handwriting and deemed the will authentic. When Tonto arrives seeking water and food, he becomes an unexpected witness to the confrontation. Curious about the man who wrote the new will, Tonto abruptly departs and rides to the hilltops where he lights signal fires to summon the Lone Ranger. As Mag defiantly refuses to leave without a fight and Morton threatens to return with the sheriff and a posse, the masked rider sees the smoke signals in the distance and races toward trouble, sensing that justice may need his intervention in this dispute over land and legacy.
