About this episode
Originally Aired: May 18, 1943 Fibber McGee & Molly #365, "Fibber Steals A Car," Fibber rushes home in a panic after borrowing Mrs. Uppington's car without proper permission to race downtown for a chance at winning a prize ashtray from the cigar store. While he's inside, the car is stolen from right in front of the store. When he reports the theft to police, Fibber gives a fake name to avoid embarrassing Mrs. Uppington, claiming to be "Morton J. Muffin of Kokomo, Indiana." Now he's terrified the police will track him down and throw him in jail. Molly tries to calm her flustered husband and convinces him to explain everything to Mrs. Uppington, but when he calls, no one answers. Things get worse when a female bailiff appears at the door requesting that Fibber voluntarily report to the police station. Convinced he's walking into a trap and will be "shot down like a dog," Fibber decides he needs a lawyer and character references. He and Molly prepare to visit his friend "Nolly Pross" from the Elks, but young Teeny drops by for a visit, delaying their departure.
