About this episode

Originally Aired: March 17, 1939 The Lone Ranger #958, "Lobo Lawson's Greed," finds Sheriff Mike Rafferty of Columbus County facing an impossible dilemma. Two outlaw gangs led by Deke Brady and Lobo Lawson have devised a clever scheme to paralyze law enforcement: whenever the sheriff and his men pursue one gang, the other strikes the town. Rafferty's posses return empty-handed once again, unable to catch either outlaw leader. The frustrated lawmen don't know that help has arrived in the form of the Lone Ranger and Tonto, who have devised their own plan to infiltrate the criminal operation. When townspeople try to arrest Tonto in Brunswick, a supposed gang member named Fritz helps the Indian escape, bringing him to Deke Brady's camp. Tonto proves his worth by demonstrating exceptional marksmanship, shooting two stones off a distant stump, and Brady welcomes him into the gang. As night falls, Tonto slips away to report to the Lone Ranger, revealing that the two outlaw leaders plan to meet soon. With Tonto now positioned inside Brady's gang, the masked rider waits to learn what scheme the criminals will devise next.
