About this episode
Originally Aired: February 24, 1942 Fibber McGee & Molly #315, "Fibber Buys A Horse," In this episode, Fibber becomes convinced that the solution to his worn-out automobile tires is purchasing a horse. Despite Molly's skepticism about his equestrian knowledge and practical objections about where they'd keep such an animal, Fibber remains undeterred. He regales Molly with dubious tales of his farm upbringing and his skills with horses, though she remembers the truth behind his rodeo story quite differently. When a hay delivery arrives at the McGee residence, Fibber claims it's for stuffing their tires, but his real intentions become increasingly transparent. The situation grows more complicated when neighbor Mrs. Uppington asks to use their garage for her brother's car during his visit. Fibber's irritation at this intrusion seems suspiciously intense, and Molly notices his nervous behavior as he makes repeated trips to the garage with pails of water. Though Fibber promises Molly he won't buy a horse, his evasive answers and slip-ups suggest he may have already made the purchase, leaving Molly to wonder what exactly is waiting in their garage.
