About this episode

Originally Aired: February 17, 1942 Fibber McGee & Molly #314, "Fibber's Home Movie," Fibber has decided that what America needs in these troubled times is laughter, and he's just the man to provide it. Still smarting from his limited role in the Bob Hope film "Look Who's Laughing," Fibber is convinced Hollywood producers didn't give him a proper chance to showcase his comedic talents. His solution is to create his own home movie screen test using a newly purchased camera from the Wistful Vista Home Movie Company. Despite Molly's skepticism and protests, she reluctantly agrees to operate the camera while Fibber performs what he considers hilarious physical comedy routines. What follows is a series of increasingly disastrous stunts as Fibber attempts to prove his comic genius. He dashes through doors wearing funny hats, tangles himself in lamp cords, and attempts to slide down the banister, sailing across the hall and collecting bruises and cuts in the process. As Molly administers iodine to his wounds, Fibber remains undeterred, already planning his next dangerous stunt involving jumping off the roof with an umbrella as a parachute. The Old Timer drops by as Fibber continues defending his natural talent for comedy.
