Molly’s Lost Diamond Ring

Originally Aired: February 3, 1942 In Fibber McGee & Molly #312, "Molly's Lost Diamond Ring," panic sets in at 79 Wistful Vista when Molly discovers her precious engagement ring has vanished from her finger. She's certain she had it on that morning and hasn't left the house, but now it's nowhere to be found. McGee springs into action, sifting through fireplace ashes grain by grain and getting covered in soot for his trouble. The search intensifies as they prepare to turn the house upside down with carpet sweepers and vacuum cleaners. The hunt is briefly interrupted by neighbor Abigail Uppington, who shares a romantic story about her own Shakespearean theater days and a suitor named T. Jarvis who promised to return someday and toss pebbles at her window. Meanwhile, McGee worries he might have sleepwalked and thrown the ring through someone's window himself. As the frantic house cleaning continues, Molly insists nothing is truly lost until you stop looking for it, and the McGees remain determined to locate the missing diamond.
