About this episode

Originally Aired: April 14, 1942 Fibber McGee & Molly #321, "Spring Festival Parade," Fibber McGee is preparing to lead Wistful Vista's Spring Festival Parade as Grand Marshal, the honor falling to him simply because he's the only man in town who owns a white horse - his portly mare, Lillian. At the costume shop with Molly, McGee enthusiastically selects a fancy western outfit complete with silver-mounted saddle, chaps, and sombrero, while Molly opts for a Little Bo Peep costume. McGee plans to ride Lillian while she pulls a decorated sulky carrying Molly behind him. The couple encounters the ever-pompous Abigail Uppington, who reveals she'll be riding on the women's club float dressed as Paul Revere, adding to the day's festivities. As parade time approaches, McGee's confidence about his horsemanship runs high, despite Molly's concerns about Lillian's nervous disposition and her husband's tendency to show off. McGee boasts about teaching Lillian tricks and demonstrates his usual bravado, but whether his grand plans for leading the parade will go smoothly remains to be seen, especially given Lillian's skittish nature and McGee's overconfidence in the saddle.
