About this episode

Originally Aired: April 21, 1942 Fibber McGee & Molly #322, "Take Me Out To The Ball Game," Molly is eager to attend the opening game of the baseball season, particularly hoping to see star pitcher Zernickey in action. She challenges Fibber's boastful claims about his influence as Chamber of Commerce president when he insists the park is sold out. Rather than simply buying tickets like "common people," Fibber pompously declares he'll get them in on passes or not at all, setting himself up for a dilemma when he has no actual plan to deliver on his promise. As Fibber scrambles to figure out how to get into the sold-out game, the McGees receive visits from Mrs. Uppington and the Old Timer. Mrs. Uppington offers baseball tickets, but they're for the wrong day. She's too busy with important charity work for United China Relief to attend today's game, which leads to a humbling moment for Fibber about what truly matters. Meanwhile, the clock ticks toward game time, and Fibber still hasn't figured out how to make good on his guarantee to get Molly into the ballpark.
