About this episode

Originally Aired: May 19, 1942 In Fibber McGee & Molly #326, "Fibber Is Going To Be Rich," Fibber and Molly face a mounting stack of bills they can't pay, with their bank balance dangerously low and creditors circling. Just as Molly worries about their financial straits, Fibber returns home bursting with excitement and a mysterious piece of paper in his pocket that he claims will solve all their problems. He insists that starting next year, their money troubles will be over forever, promising Molly mink coats, diamonds, and a life of luxury. As Fibber tantalizes Molly with visions of wintering in Palm Beach and summering at Lake Louise, the stuffy Mrs. Uppington drops by and becomes curious about their sudden windfall. Fibber brags to their wealthy neighbor about his impending fortune, but he remains maddeningly vague about the actual source of this wealth. With proof supposedly in hand and grand plans already forming, Fibber seems convinced they're about to join high society, though the details of his get-rich scheme remain frustratingly unclear to both Molly and their bemused visitor.
