About this episode
Originally Aired: June 9, 1942 Fibber McGee & Molly #329, "Pot Roast For Dinner," Fibber is ravenously hungry and eagerly awaiting Molly's perfectly timed pot roast, which she insists needs exactly seventeen more minutes to reach perfection. Just as the meal is nearly ready and the delicious aroma fills the house, an unwelcome visitor arrives at the door. Mayor La Trivia drops by ostensibly to get Fibber's opinion on the new bulletin board at City Hall, but his real interest quickly becomes apparent as he lingers and hints broadly about his bachelor's appetite and love of informal kitchen dinners. As Molly dashes back and forth to check on the roast, Fibber desperately tries to hustle the Mayor out the door, insisting he's in a hurry and even claiming he personally dislikes pot roast. The Mayor, however, proves remarkably obtuse to Fibber's hints, settling in comfortably and waxing poetic about the virtues of working up an appetite with a brisk walk. With only enough pot roast prepared for two and dinner growing dangerously close to being overdone, the situation grows increasingly tense.
